The Minister of Manpower, Mohamed Saafan, witnessed, in the first event from the ministry’s headquarters in the government district in the New Administrative Capital, the signing of a collective work agreement between the Eastern Company (Eastern Company), the General Union of Workers in Food Industries, and the Trade Union Committee of the company’s workers, achieving benefits for 3,000 workers in the company.
The company was represented in the signature by Hani Aman, in his capacity as the managing director and CEO of the company, and Khaled Abdel Latif Aish, head of the General Union of Workers in Food Industries, and head of the company’s union committee.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Manpower welcomed the attendance of members of the company’s board of directors, representatives of workers in the General Union and the Workers’ Union Committee, in the presence of the Ministry of Manpower building in the New Administrative Capital, which today witnesses the signing of the first agreement of its kind in the capital recorded in history for workers and the company’s board of directors.
The minister explained that this agreement is the result of joint discussions between all parties under the supervision of the ministry during the past period, which realistically expresses the aspirations of the workers and fulfills their aspirations and aspirations so that they can live a decent life as Egyptian citizens and workers on the land of their beloved Egypt.
The minister pointed out that the role of workers’ representatives and the general union to which they belong does not stop at taking care of workers during their work periods, but rather following up on them after they leave early retirement to check on their future and create a better tomorrow for them and their families.
For his part, Eng. Tamer Gadallah, Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors, thanked the Minister of Manpower for his sponsorship of the agreement signed today, which we are pleased to be the largest collective labor agreement launched from within the new administrative capital, which reflects the role of the state and its institutions in support and implementation to ensure that workers receive The public and private institutions are entitled to all their rights in a regulatory framework that is satisfactory to all parties.
Khaled Aish, head of the union, stated that the agreement achieved many advantages for voluntary exit and obtaining the compensatory bonus stipulated in the agreement or continuing to work according to the company’s need.
He said: The agreement stipulates the company’s management’s commitment to grant an end-of-service gratuity to the worker who applies for voluntary exit after accepting his request from the company to terminate the work relationship by mutual consent according to the age groups, where the reward for workers from 55 to 59 years is equivalent to three months’ wages calculated on The basic wage for each year of service, without a maximum.
The two parties also agreed to add a lump sum to be paid once as an additional end-of-service gratuity, equivalent to 500 pounds for each month remaining in the service until reaching the age of sixty for the same category.
The two parties agreed that with regard to the contributions of the workers’ fund, the company bears the share of the worker and the company in the contributions of the fund for a period of five years from exit, and in all cases the minimum end-of-service gratuity for this category shall be no less than 300,000 pounds.
The agreement stipulated the company’s commitment to pay the cash equivalent of the balance of the leave that was not received by the worker whose application for exit was accepted during his work in the company, in accordance with the provisions of Labor Law No. 12 of 2003 and the provisions of the company’s approved regulations in this regard.
Providing 3000 job opportunities
The Minister of Manpower inaugurated the first employment forum at the Higher Institute for Cooperative and Administrative Studies, which provides 3000 job opportunities for males and females of various qualifications, as well as technical professions from all specializations and different functional sectors, provided by the Directorate of Manpower in Cairo through 40 private sector companies in the governorate, with salaries starting from 2400 to 7500 pounds, and in the presence of the Dean of the Institute, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Aziz Khalifa, Dr. Ahmed Khamis, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Medhat Al-Amrawi, Director of the Directorate.
The Minister of Manpower said that the employment forum comes within the framework of the “Decent Life” initiative launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to provide decent and decent job opportunities for young people of both sexes.
The minister inspected the existing companies, stressing the need to apply the minimum wage to the jobs offered by the companies, and to determine the required numbers, with a detailed explanation of all the details and conditions of the job for the applicants.
Saafan directed his speech to the young applicants, advising them to review the details of each job before applying for it, and to choose the most appropriate among them in terms of salary and job position, commensurate with their abilities and training, with the selection of one company from among the existing companies, which is useful in following up on jobs and their occupants after the end of the forum and analysis Data according to the statistics of the Egyptian labor market.
emergency benefits
The Board of Directors of the Workers’ Emergency Benefit Fund, headed by the Minister of Manpower, agreed to disburse the tenth and eleventh installments to workers in the tourism sector facilities, which were previously disbursed in previous payments, given the economic conditions they are going through according to the statements received and approved by the insurances.
The Minister of Manpower revealed that the amounts disbursed from the fund of the Ministry of Manpower amounted to 2 billion and 62 million and 900 thousand pounds, from which 419,726 workers benefited, working in 3,937 facilities, until the end of December 2021.
This came in a meeting of the fund’s board of directors, which is chaired by the Minister of Manpower, and the membership of representatives of employers’ and workers’ organizations, and members ex officio or experience.
Training and qualification
The Minister of Manpower chaired the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Training and Rehabilitation Fund, at the Ministry’s general office, and the council discussed the topics on its agenda, including the financial report of the fund’s activities, and the renewal of the protocol signed between the Ministry of Manpower and the Fund to hold social programs for social partners “government, workers, and owners.” Business: The “Egypt is a trust between your hands” initiative, as well as the position of the activities practiced by the Fund, which are the financing of vocational training centers, the training programs offered in them, and other training activities.
He pointed out that the funding provided by the Fund for these training activities and centers was set at about LE 118,347,000, to be spent on the training process.
The minister added that the fund helped the ministry establish a new training system to organize the reciprocal relationship between private sector companies and their employees, to develop their skills and abilities to perform the tasks assigned to them.
Saafan called for an extrapolation of the situation in the industrial sector within the Egyptian state to find out the jobs created in the coming period, and over a period of five years, in order to provide them with appropriate training, in terms of training places and training programs to prepare generations capable of giving and making efforts to advance the national economy and achieve Good for them and their community.
National Employment Strategy
The Minister of Manpower met, at the Ministry’s General Office, Eric Ochlan, Director of the International Labor Organization’s office in Cairo, and Luca Fedi, the organization’s employment expert, to discuss the steps that are currently being prepared for the national strategy for employment in Egypt, in preparation for preparing a study of the frame of reference for the committee responsible for the strategy, as well as the ministry’s readiness To hold the elections of trade union organizations for the session 2022-2026, in addition to discussing many work files between the Ministry and the International Labor Organization, and to find out the latest developments in joint projects between the two sides.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minister welcomed the attendees, stressing the continuous cooperation between the ministry and the organization’s office in Cairo, the ministry’s partners in its projects in order to serve labor and workers in the Egyptian state, noting that the ministry is currently working and preparing for the conduct of the union organizations’ elections for the new trade union session 2022/2026. After Eid Al-Fitr, stressing that it will be conducted differently from the previous session, as a database for the Egyptian trade union organization has been prepared and includes 99% of the data of workers registered in the previous session 2018.
The Minister of Manpower reiterated the importance of setting a timetable for the implementation of any joint project, through which the actual implementation of the projects will be monitored, and their latest developments to identify problems and obstacles to their implementation in the required manner.
For his part, Eric Ochlan thanked the Minister of Manpower for hosting it, stressing that this meeting is an opportunity to exchange views on the upcoming labor union elections and the draft national strategy for employment, adding that he is following up on the ministry’s efforts in the past period regarding discussions of the new labor bill in the Senate.
